Static Security Guards
The term Static can, in fact, refer to a Guard who doesn't move about very much
Such a Guard would probably be based in a Control Room (such as a CCTV monitoring unit) or perhaps a Weigh-bridge, often Guards will operate drop barriers and supervise time clocks etc from a Gate-House office/base. Other guards may cover out of hours duties in a Reception, or a Guard might be required to stay in one specific location for a variety of reasons, e.g. Acting as a deterrent to crime or perhaps providing First Aid back-up on Night Shifts etc.
Customers, today, take a new and wider view of the uses of modern Security Staff, many of whom are - or could be - given multi-skill training to carry out a wider range of useful Services; they often alleviate the work load of other members of the Customers staff who were basically employed for other duties. The Post Room or Despatch Areas spring easily to mind as do mail distribution and, in more extreme circumstances, Security scanning of persons visiting sensitive areas of operation.
Many Static Guards are anything but static and walk miles carrying out regular physical checks of their assignments, 'clocking' as they go the secure points which record times, dates and locations showing exactly what areas have been physically checked. Some glide along carpeted corridors, others struggle in all weathers, to make their way across muddy building sites and a variety of other outdoor assignments. Concrete Block manufacturers, Wood Yards, Scrap Yards, Goods Vehicle and Plant parking Areas etc etc.

Our risk assessment helps us to compile the contents of our Assignment Instructions, which are unique to each site, but more importantly, help protect both the Health and Safety of the Guards and the security status of the assignment.
